It was released on 14 March 2009. 6 months before the wedding ceremony of Nikhil (Shah Rukh Khan) and Aarti's (Neha Dhupia) parents are to take place. The two are not getting along very well because Aarti does not agree with her father's strict rule that Nikhil should marry a girl from UP. After all, he is a Punjabi man. The couple receive an invitation card for their parents' wedding ceremony. Aarti's grandparents reside in Lucknow and her father wants to make the marriage preparations there to convince his parents about his daughter's marriage with Nikhil. Since Aarti has no other choice but to go along with her father, she agrees to go on the trip. Nikhil informs his friends Raghu (Kunaal Roy Kapur) and Siddhu (Chandan Roy Sanyal) that they will be attending an annual cricket match in Mumbai, but instead the three board a plane to go to Lucknow. When they reach there, Aarti notices a Uttar Pradesh registration plate on Siddhu's bike and tells him about her parents' impending marriage. Meanwhile, Nikhil's arrogant friend Arjun (Rishi Kapoor) arrives in Lucknow with a girl named Angie (Keerthi Reddy), who is from the same part of India but from West Bengal. She is supposed to be an exchange student from IIMs based in Kolkata. Nikhil's friend Siddhu meets Arjun and Angie during the college fair and quickly falls in love with Angie, while Raghu falls for Aarti. Aarti and Nikhil discover that their parents have started to get closer. Aarti tells Nikhil that she wants to marry him only. To everyone's surprise, Nikhil's parents have decided to send him to a boarding school far away from Lucknow. Aarti informs her father that she wishes to stay on in Lucknow and marry Nikhil, but her father said that they will not be together again. A few months later, when Aarti is in Maharashtra with Nikhil, she sees Arjun driving past them in his car. She changes into her wedding sari and runs after him for a formal engagement ceremony although Raghu is right beside her.
